More accolades for Speaking Lingo presenter

Congratulations local Gumbaynggirr man, Speaking Hour Lingo program presenter and Operations Manager at the Coffs and District Land Council, Lockie Skinner, for being nominated for 7News Young Achievers Awards – Indigenous Achievement and the AbSec Young Person of the Year Award.
 
Earlier this year, Lockie was nominated for the prestigious Grace Roberts Community Development Award, the youngest ever nominee.
 
Lockie’s Speaking Hour Lingo program looks at issues, language, events, courses and workshops for local indigenous youth and also plays a range of music from indigenous artists. He is currently mentoring a group of local youths to participate in the radio program.
 
Station Manager Angie Vaughan, says, “Lockie’s standing and recognition within his community and all he does for his community continues to go from strength-to-strength. We are so proud of all he is doing in his community, for the youth he mentors in his community and the massive contribution he makes to 104.1 CHY FM.”
