At Mike Thompson’s funeral this week, representatives from all sectors of the radio industry gathered in Sydney’s Northern Suburbs to pay tribute to a man who did much for community radio. Kath Leitch, Peter Westaway and others, including two family members, spoke about Mike’s passion for community radio, his career as a manager of SBS radio in its early days, his time as a media policy maker working in the public service and as an ABC journalist. His legacy at the head of the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia will not soon be forgotten.
