Middle age catches up with Jimmy and Gus

Long gone are the days of drugs, sex and rock and roll at Triple M when “Uncle” Doug Mulray was king of the kids in Breakfast in Sydney.

Still, two out of three ain’t bad.

Reality, though, has caught up with the Rock and Roll community. With the notable exception, perhaps, of Stones’ lead guitartist Keith Richards, those who’ve survived their previous excesses and are now into their 60’s and beyond, have come to realise just how close they came to being a staple of Rock and Roll Heaven music weekends.

Today, our own Jimmy Barnes (62) takes life much more seriously and values physical and mental well-being much more highly.

This Monday (August 27) Triple M Sydney’s Gus Worland who has had his own troubles controlling his weight (which is not a joking matter either) will be joined by Jimmy Barnes for an honest conversation focusing on Men’s Mental Health Awareness and Anti-Domestic Violence.

Both themes are prominent in Jimmy’s new documentary ‘Working Class Boy’ in cinemas from this weekend.
