McDonalds ads temporarily off air

After the tragic domestic violence related shooting of a woman outside a Gold Coast McDonalds restaurant, the company has pulled all radio advertising off air.

The company requested stations to remove ads from air at short notice this week for around 48 hours, particularly asking that ads not be played around news bulletins.

Alerts were sent to stations saying:

“In the wake of the shooting McDonalds have asked for all activity, spots, sponsorships to be moved… I’m sure you understand how important it is for McDonalds to show sensitivity…”

It is not known yet when ads will resume.

The gunman died in hospital overnight from self inflicted wounds.
