Mark Pascoe gets to 30 years on Perth radio

This week Mark ‘Smiley’ Pascoe celebrated the incredible milestone of 30 years in Perth radio.

Everyone at 96FM knew that Thursday 25th was the anniversary, Smiley seemed to have forgotten, so they were able to organise a huge surprise celebration for him, and literally rolled out a red carpet for his arrival, followed closely by balloons, bubbles and a cake.

Of celebrating 30 years on radio Mark ‘Smiley’ Pascoe said, “From the age of 12 I only had one dream, to be a Radio Announcer on 96FM and every morning at 9 o’clock I get to live out that dream! I truly am the luckiest guy in the world and what a privilege to be part of the team during 96FM’s 40th anniversary.”

Yesterday’s surprise kicked off the start of celebrations for 96FM’s 40th anniversary which is officially on August 8 this year.

After studying at the WA Academy of Performing Arts, Mark kicked off his radio career at 6MD followed by 6PR, 6IX, Red FM and Spirit Radio before joining the team at Perth’s 96FM.

In 2012 Mark took 96FM Mornings to #1 for the first time in 20 years and in 2019 Mark’s Morning ratings on 96FM increased from a 9.2% share in Survey 1 to a 15.9% share in Survey 6.
