Mark Allen’s cancer has returned

Popular Macquarie Sports Radio host and former golfer Mark Allen’s battle with cancer took a tough turn earlier this week when a small 2cm spot found on his lung was found to be a tumour.

Mark had been battling stage 4 lung and bowel cancer, forcing him to have surgery that removed 70 per cent of his rectum and 18 per cent of his lungs, but in July he was told he was cancer free.

The new spot is on his “good” lung and the news came at almost the same time that he was told that Macquarie Sports would be curtailing all it’s talkback programs and reassessing all programming over summer.

His co-host and former Melbourne AFL player, David Schwarz, took to social media yesterday saying the announcement of Mark’s returning cancer put some perspective around their employment situation.
