Margan signs off from 3AW

An institution of the Melbourne media scene is retiring today.

For the last nvarchar(15)een yearsRosemary Margan has been the live advert lady on Neil Mitchell’s morning show on 3AW.

Forty two years ago her career in the media began by accident, a career which would lead her to work with some of the biggest names in TV and radio, she told the Herald Sun about her shaky start in 1965.

“When I was asked to audition at Nine for the weather spot I thought it was a joke, I thought they were kidding. I was terrible, and I auditioned I don’t know how many times and they were all terrible except the first one. Eventually it all worked out.”

Margan recently appeared on Mel and Kochie’s “Where are they now” which covered her period as the hostess of “Spending Spree”.

Mitchell, will formally farewell Margan on his show today, said she was a total professional, but had also been responsible for some of his funniest radio moments.

“Once in a script she was reading where they were trying to raise money for a rubber ducky for the life-savers, she was convinced it was a rubber dicky, we’ll miss her a great deal.”

Bert Newton, said: “Melbourne media won’t be the same without her.”
