Macquarie Radio Network has confirmed the story radioinfo broke exclusively yesterday, announcing to the stock exchange that Rob Loewenthal has been appointed Managing Director. He has held the position of CFO since 2006, and more recently added the Chief Operating Officer role to his duties. He also joins the board of MRN.

Announcing Loewenthal’s appointment, Executive Chairman Russell Tate (pictured) said:

“Rob is an exceptional executive and in the three years I have worked with him he has continued to demonstrate remarkable leadership qualities to compliment his financial expertise. As we consolidate our position as Sydney’s number one radio station and continue to expand and invest in new opportunities, Rob’s role will be key to the future growth of MRN.”

Loewenthal says this is a particularly exciting time for MRN. “I look forward to harnessing the opportunities, the energy and the passion to drive innovation and growth right through the business. As a company we have been straightforward in assessing problems and energetic in tackling them. I have considerable optimism regarding the prospects for MRN in the short and long term.”

He says the “scorecard of his performance” will not be a single year snapshot, but “the continued growth of the business.”

Russell Tate also announced two new board appointments, John Singleton’s son Jack Singleton, and Kate Thompson, who replaces Mark Carnegie.
