Gove community station 8EAR FM is on low power as a result of unusual transmitter problems – birds have eaten the transmitter cable. They say the crocks are a menace in the Northern Territory, but the radio volunteers think the birds are more trouble.

The isolated community is a long way from the nearest electronics store and has not yet been able to properly replace the cable. In the mean time the station is running on low power with interim cabling.
