#loveislove

2017 is in full swing and after endless posts of engagements, weddings and babies on all of our socials over the silly season K rock realised there was something missing. Not one of them was a same-sex engagement or wedding, so it got Tom & Buckle from K rock’s Fresh Daily thinking why?

Why isn’t this a thing? Why are there double standards here in Australia? It’s time to give Marriage Equality a voice and show Geelong, Bellarine and The Surf Coast how much support there is for same-sex couples in our region.

What’s the best way celebrate and acknowledge the love between two people regardless of gender?

A WEDDING!

On March 3rd, K rock will host a same-sex wedding for local couple Addam & Digby at Leura Park Estate on the Bellarine Peninsula. There’s been no competition, nothing tacky, cheap or crass. It’ll be a wedding, a beautiful, intimate event where two men will celebrate their love for each other along with all of their friends and family. It will also be a statement: Equality, give the Australian people what they want.

With such a short turnaround they’ve had to recruit an army of helpers and fortunately have had no shortage of people and businesses put their hands up, eager to participate and passionate about the cause.

Overwhelmed with the support and proud to be the face of this push for marriage equality, Digby says

You should be able to stand up in front of your family and friends and make that commitment to each other. Hopefully our wedding will give other same-sex couples the courage to do the same but also get the ball rolling to reignite the discussions with politicians to make a change.”

Tom Lewis continues to push for support on air. Why is it that the very people we put in place to do the talking for us are ignoring our call? Celebrating this couples special day is our way of saying love is love and enough is enough.

The event will be for family and friends only but you are invited to join us for the Facebook live stream at Krock Geelong, 2pm Friday March 3rd.
