Lawo desks snapped up in many continents

Lawo, a new advertiser here on radioinfo for 2007, is rapidly expanding its presence in some of the world’s major radio and recording studios. The company’s mc²66 desk is one of its recent products gaining wide acceptance.

America’s MTV networks has updated the mixing console in its audio recording Mobile Unit 8 by installing a new 56 fader digital Lawo mc²66 mixer. The 48’ mobile truck is used as the sound unit for live broadcasts, taped performances, DVD and CD productions, and is one of the leading trucks in the United States for award shows and multi-band performances.

The new console upgrades the truck to be the largest 96 kHz capable truck in the market, and allows complete store and recall of console parameters, including processing and automation, and flexible routing to Mobile Unit 8’s on-board multi-track recording and Protools systems.

Since its 2004 launch at the NAB show in Las Vegas and the AES in Berlin, the Lawo mc²66 console has developed into Europe’s most successful large format console installed in over 25 modern audio and HDTV mobile trucks.

And in Egypt, ERTU, the Egyptian Radio and Television Union in Cairo, has ordered three Lawo zirkon on-air consoles.

Convinced by the excellence of customised zirkon consoles, coupled with their functionality and flexibility, ERTU decided to equip three on-air radio studios with Lawo technology during the course of an extensive renovation project. Work began in June 2006 and has recently been completed.

One essential feature, on which ERTU based their decision to purchase the 20-fader zirkons, was the flexibility of the console’s configuration and programmability. This enables clients to adapt the control surface to provide all the required functions for their current workflow, and also to cover their future needs.

Every zirkon console supplied for this project is a stand-alone console with DSP redundancy, also well suited for use as a self-op desk. ERTU have invested in their future by choosing a console that offers, apart from its modular design, multi-layer operation, integration with automated radio systems, remote control of hard disk recording systems — and much more.

The Lawo company specialises in the manufacture of radio and TV mixing console systems. High quality demands and innovative technology merge with 30 years of experience in the field of professional audio technology.

Lawo develops and manufactures digital audio mixing consoles for on-air, broadcast and production, with the respective software.
