Glenn Daniel's autobiography launches in Sydney.

On Friday night, smoothfm's Glenn Daniel celebrated the launch of his autobiography, News Time: A Life in Radio.

Media and guests numbering 150 joined Glenn at Doltone House, Jones Bay Wharf, to celebrate the launch of the book which details Glenn's 35-year career across seven radio newsrooms from 1982 to 2017.

Journalist and author Leigh Hatcher was the evening's MC, and guest speakers included NOVA Entertainment CEO, Cathy O'Connor and SBS Director, Mandi Wicks.

Guests included Today Show host, Georgie Gardener, NOVA Entertainment Sydney GM, Luke Minto, and smoothfm newsreaders Steve Blanda and Ron Wilson.

Having survived cancer and open heart surgery, all profits from the sale of Glenn's book will be donated to the Cardiac Research Unit at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, for its world first valve replacement program without open heart surgery.

In the 1980s, Sydney radio stations 2GB and 2UE (independent entities then) ran half hour news bulletins at midday. 2GB also had a 1700 half hour news bulletin and at 2200 a 10 minute news bulletin.
With newsrooms being consolidated in the last 25 years, why have these half hour bulletins disappeared?
Thank you,
Anthony of exciting Belfield
