Kim Bauer leaves Newcastle radio after 35 years

After almost 35 years in Newcastle media, 2HD’s Kim Bauer will leave the station and move back to WA for family reasons.

Kim first worked at 2NX as music director and announcer from 1979- 81 before joining Triple M Sydney as MD, returning to Newcastle to work on the licence application for NEWFM.

From 1991 to ’99 she served as Promotions Manager, Asst Music Director and Asst PD at NEWFM and when Bill Carralis bought the station, Kim was forced to move to NXFM, joining Garth Russell and Steve Graham on breakfast.

When Garth left, the highly rated Steve & Kim breakfast show ran for another 11 years.

Kim re-joined NEWFM in 2012 before moving down the hall to its sister station 2HD three years ago to co-host breakfast with Richard King.

Her final day on air and farewell to Newcastle is this Friday
