K-Rudd takes no responsibility for Hamish & Andy’s U.S. trip

Friday 21 August, 2009

Hamish & Andy left for the States on Friday having received the ultimate permission slip from Australia’s Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd himself.

After sending a permission slip they had written for the PM to sign, they were surprised to not only get a response, but a genuine personalised reply from K-Rudd stating, among other things, “I Kevin Rudd, think it is a great idea that Hamish & Andy partake in their American Caravan of Courage, ‘Yes We Van’. They have my permission to go, although they definitely don’t need it, and in all likelihood they probably don’t deserve it.

Hamish & Andy were thrilled saying, “You can't go to a friend’s place to stay the night without parental permission, and we feel we now have Australia's dad's permission to go.”

Caravan of Courage: America will see the nationally syndicated people’s show broadcast from Miami on Monday 24 August. Hamish & Andy’s international stupidity will then continue for two weeks as they make their way to Los Angeles for Friday 4 September in their ‘Abra-VAN-Lincoln’.

Caravan of Courage 1 in 2007 saw Hamish & Andy drive the Jayco Expander from Perth to Brisbane. In 2008’s Caravan of Courage 2 the boys drove from Melbourne to Darwin. In 2009, the time is right to take the road trip international.

As well as doing their radio show each afternoon, Hamish & Andy will be documenting their adventures with plenty of photos and video on www.hamishandandy.com. They will also be checking in with Rove on Sunday nights throughout the journey, culminating in a one hour Hamish & Andy Caravan of Courage Special, airing on Network Ten early September.
