John Farnham Still the Voice at Gold 104

John Farnham’s You’re the Voice is still proving popular 16 years after it first
aired in 1987.

Farnham was voted number one in the Top 1000 Classic Hits poll
compiled by Melbourne’s GOLD 104.

GOLD 104 Program Director, Dave Smith, told radioinfo the countdown gave listeners the
chance to literally program the station.

“John Farnham coming in at number one was a pleasant surprise and was
undoubtedly fuelled by Melbourne’s passion for their hometown boy,”
said Smith.

Also featured in the Top five were:

John Lennon with Imagine,

Queen’s Bohemian
Rhapsody,

The Beatles with Twist and Shout and

Unchained Melody by the Righteous
Brothers.

By far the most popular act was The Beatles with no less than 42 songs in Gold 104’s Top 1000.
