Jay Walkerden sues Nova over dismissal

Former GM of Nova Brisbane, Jay Walkerden has filed a statement of claim against his former employer over his dismissal.

The claim, made in the Brisbane District Court alleges Nova 106.9 owes him over $200,000 because the company did not give him six months notice when they sacked him “with immediate effect” on March 16 after an alleged incident while on a work trip in America.

Walkerden claims he was earning $336,033 a year and had worked for the radio station for eight years and 28 weeks when he was dismissed, according to the court documents.

He was also entitled to annual bonuses of up to $32,000 if the station reached number one, which it did in the April 16 GfK survey.
