It is right that they finally gain closure: Saldanha inquest

In advance of today’s UK Inquest, Jacintha Saldahna’s family spokesperson has issued a statement.

UK member of parliament Keith Vaz said:

“It has been a long road for the family and I deeply admire the patience, humility and dignity they have shown throughout this traumatic time. It is right that they finally gain closure.”

The nurse took her own life on December 7, 2012 after answering a prank call from 2Day FM about Kate Middleton’s morning sickness. The Dutchess of Cambridge has announced she is pregnant again.

“Jacintha’s family were delighted to hear the news that the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting her second child and want to pass on their heartfelt congratulations to the couple,” said Vaz, on behalf of the family.

A statement released earlier this week by the City of Westminster Coroners Court said nine witnesses will give evidence at the inquest. The names of witnesses have not be announced in advance, but the statement did confirm that “the two Australian DJs will not be giving evidence.” The statement says Austereo “has submitted evidence to the inquest.”

An inquest is a limited, fact finding inquiry to determine the cause of death.

Southern Cross Austereo does not expect to be in a position to make any comment on the proceedings, but may issue a statement when the Inquest has finished.
