Income growth and new board member for 2NSB

Barbara McCarthy, former Chairman of the Chatswood Chamber of Commerce, has been elected to the Board of Directors of Sydney community radio
station 2NSB FM 99.3 at its Annual General Meeting. The station also presented its accounts at the AGM, which showed healthy income growth over the past financial year.

McCarthy replaces sitting Director Bev Bayer, who is standing down due to business pressure. Sitting Directors, Allen Morley, John Pope and Georgina Reed, were also re-elected to the Board.

The financial statement presented to the AGM showed that Northside Broadcasting
Co-operative Limited achieved a considerable lift in income for the financial
year to June 30, 2002 of $234,253, compared to $112,127 in the previous year,
which in turn was a doubling of the income from the year before.

Although this provided a net operating profit of $36,629 for the Financial Year
2001/2002, this was reduced to a loss of $2,808 after provision for income tax
and extraordinary items.

Chairman Allen Morley said the improved financial result was achieved as a result of a great deal of hard work in securing new sponsors and ongoing
public relations and promotional activities to raise the profile of the station
in the local community.

“This also means that it is of critical importance to maintain our standards,
both from the point of view of program quality and technical excellence to
ensure that listeners can hear the station at a standard comparable to the best
commercial stations. In both of these aspects we have been superbly served by our volunteers who
work in many different capacities at the station ranging from on-air presenters,
panel operators and in vitally important administrative roles,”
said Morley.
