IBOC approved in the USA

In an historic Report, the US FCC approved IBOC and authorized
radio stations to begin digital broadcasts in the United States.

iBiquity’s IBOC technology, branded HD Radio™ for consumers, is now “the
digital AM and FM solution for the U.S,” according to the company. Digital Satellite Radio is a close competitor and has sparked the motivation for the beginning of digital terrestrial broadcasts in the US.

iBiquity says: “Over the past four years many parties have worked to make this day a
reality including members of the FCC’s Mass Media Bureau, the National
Radio Systems Committee (NRSC) comprised of the Consumer Electronics
Association and National Association of Broadcasters members, as well as
our many partners and investors. We wish to thank them all for this
landmark ruling.”

The FCC Order outlines three important elements on the approach to
digital broadcasting:

* The Order clarifies that the United States
will use an IBOC approach for digital radio

* It endorses iBiquity’s IBOC technology

* The FCC has authorized
broadcasters to commence digital broadcasting.

The news paves the way for large scale implementation of HD Radio
technology for broadcasters and manufacturers. In conjunction with their
consumer electronics partners, the International Consumer Electronics Show
in January will be the launch pad for HD Radio technology in receivers.
