I Lost My Heart to Triple R

For the past 28 years Melbourne’s community radio station 3RRR FM has made an extraordinary contribution to Melbourne’s radio scene and, as the station prepares to move top new premises, it is celebrating it’s achievements by recalling former presenters for a weekend of special broadcasts.

A long list of broadcasters who started or embellished their careers at Triple R has been invited back to take over the airwaves on Valentine’s weekend – February 13-15.

Greig Pickhaver will be back as a music presenter, the original line-ups of The Coodabeen Champions , Punter to Punter and Danger Low Brow will be back. Kate Langbroek + John Safran will be back on Breakfast and Julian Schiller and Tony Moclair will re-visit CRUD.

Francis Leach (now at SEN) will team up again with Jenny Oldershaw (former Triple J presenter and the voice of ABC TV promos) and the man immortalised by Paul Kelly in a song, Billy Baxter, will also be back spinning the discs.

Additionally the great comedic legacies of the late Dave Taranto and the late Lynda Gibson will be brought back to life by their respective co-hosts Janet McLeod and Brian Nankervis who’ll re-present tapes of their seminal shows.

And perhaps two of the biggest names to come thru Triple R, Ross Stevenson and John Clarke – who met at Triple R in the late 70’s and worked together on ‘The Royal Commission into the Australian Economy’ and the ABC TV series ‘The Games’ – will appear on the Skull Cave on Friday the 13th with the legendary Triple R presenter Stephen Walker .

The ‘Lost My Heart’ weekend is a major part of Triple R’s “Move Your RRR’s” Relocation Campaign. Triple R recently took a giant leap of faith and purchased a building in Brunswick and has just launched a once-only lifetime subscription offer to assist with the cost of purchase, relocation and fitting out it’s new home in 2004.
