Hughesy supports his mate Kate on and off air

KIIS FM’s Hughesy and Kate have shown the strength of their relationship both on-air and off-air, teaming up to raise $12,000 for the Children’s Cancer Foundation over the weekend.

Kate Langbroek is one the charity’s Ambassadors.

“They’re incredible and I got involved with them because my eldest son, who is now 13, was diagnosed with leukaemia when he was 6 years old and that was, as you would imagine, horrendous.”

Kate participated in Run Melbourne with Dave ‘Hughesy’ Hughes offering to donate $2,000 for every kilometre run non-stop – never imagining how well Kate would perform.

Dave said when he found out Kate was doing a fun run and needed sponsors, he underestimated his on-air partner who is “not a runner by any stretch of the imagination”, thinking she would walk at least half the six kilometres.

Kate acknowleged the run was hard but not as hard as children’s cancer. “I couldn’t stop”.

And she didn’t for six kilometres with Hughesy handing over a $12,000 cheque.
