Hughesy back on Nova breakfast… limited return season

Former Nova 100 breakfast host Dave Hughes will return to host Nova’s national breakfast show for two weeks from next Monday 30 June.

Joining Hughesy for the first week will be his long term radio partner Kate Langbroek, allowing listeners to experience the madness and frivolity of one of Nova’s favourite breakfast teams Hughesy & Kate.

For his second week on air, Hughesy will be joined by comedian Peter Helliar.

Hughesy said, “I can’t wait to reunite with the gorgeous Kate Langbroek for a week of fury and then catch up with old buddy Pete Helliar to see him bookend his day with Nova and The Project like I used to!”

Nova’s Assistant Group Program Director Mike Cass says: “It was great to have Hughesy back on air over Easter and now that he’s forgotten what it’s like to get up at 4am, we‘re going to get him back in the studio for two weeks to fill in while our breakfast teams take a break. Hughesy, one of Australia’s most successful comedians and a great broadcaster, paired with the talented Kate Langbroek and Peter Helliar, is the perfect combination to entertain listeners during the survey break.”

Well-known to Nova listeners, Hughesy was co-host of Nova 100’s Hughesy & Kate breakfast show for 12 years. After finishing his current stint in breakfast on Nova, Hughesy will headline shows in Portland and Warrnambool and then travel to LA with his young family. Hughesy will perform at Montreal’s Just for Laughs Festival before taking his Pointless show for a season on London’s West End and the Edinburgh Fringe festival.

Hughesy will be heard across the network as the holiday fill in for Nova’s Fitzy & Wippa in Sydney, Melbourne’s Meshel & Tommy and Adelaide’s Lewis & Lowe. Brisbane listeners will enjoy one week of Hughesy & Kate with Ash, Kip & Luttsy returning on 7 July while Nova 937 Perth listeners will enjoy Nova’s Nathan, Nat and Shaun Re-heated for the two week break.
