How radio is tackling the Victorian State Election

774 ABC Melbourne morning presenter Jon Faine will present a state-wide Election Night Count broadcast this weekend, in front of a live audience at the ABC Election Centre at Southbank.

Joining Jon to dissect the results will be David Feeney, Labor Member for Batman and Josh Frydenberg, Liberal Member for Kooyong.

Also providing expert analysis will be Associate Professor Paul Strangio from Monash University.

ABC reporters will report in from key locations across the state, and broadcast any victory or concession speeches should they occur.

Over at 3AW, in the newsroom, Tony Tardio will present the news from 6pm after polls close.

An election team, including Lauren Hilbert, Denis O’Kane and Pat Mitchell will be on the road, providing up-to-date reports for both news and programs.

​Also from 6​, Neil Mitchell and Heidi Murphy will host an Election Special with experts including Dr Nick Economou from Monash University; Treasurer Michael O’Brien; Shadow Health Minister Gavin Jennings; political commentators Nick Reece and James Paterson.  Mitchell will also be featuring on Channel 9’s coverage before and during the broadcast.

LGBTI community station JOY 94.9 will host a special edition of the weekly Saturday Magzine to discuss election issues concerning the LGBTI community.

It will be hosted by former JOY president, David McCarthy, and SBS producer Ben Rylan and will feature former minister Bronwyn Pike and former Parliamentary Secretary for Planning and Local Government, Leonie Burke.
