To celebrate Mother’s Day, Hobart’s Hit 100.9 breakfast duo Jimmy & Nath set out to find Hobart’s biggest Mother Tucker.

That is, the mother who most skillfully and swiftly tucks her children into bed at night.

Four Tasmanian mothers were selected during the week to take part in the Mother Tuck-Off, which was postponed on Friday due to the severe flooding in Hobart. 

Smack talk, strategy discussion and props were all a large part of the lead in to today’s tuck-off; teddy bears, hot water bottles and Vick’s Vapour Rub all playing a part.

Judged by a panel of experienced mothers, each Mother Tucker had only two minutes to properly tuck Jimmy & Nath into a single bed, in the middle of a furniture store, live on Facebook.

Judging criteria included the tightness of the tuck, the kiss on the forehead, the bedtime nursey rhyme and a holistic analysis of the overall “love” of the tuck.

The Tuck Off was a close battle; coming down to a tie with Mother Tuckers, Donna and Alicia forced to battle it out in a Sudden Tuck-Off Round! With another tie the result, in true Mother’s Day spirit Donna and Alicia decided to share the win and Tasmania’s first dual Mother Tucker was crowned.

Jimmy said “The competition was definitely in my Top 10 Mother Tucking experiences,” whilst Nath applauded the dedication and creativity of the mothers, saying, “Tucking in your children is a skill that all mothers are born with, we saw that demonstrated today…as the big spoon I feel privileged to have been a part of it!”

Jimmy & Nath joined Hit 100.9 at the beginning of 2018 as the new breakfast show and can be heard from 6-9am Monday to Friday.
