Hill FM breakfast presenter elected to city council

Hill FM breakfast announcer Steve Baker put his money where his mouth is in the recent state council elections and got himself elected.

Baker, a sometime critic of council decisions, scraped in by a handful of votes ahead of his nearest rival.

Baker, who is currently on leave from the station, also presents afternoons on 2BH. He has been in radio for 10 years and combines humour with comments on “meaty issues” during his programs.

He is one of six new councillors who mayor Ron Page says “will bring fresh energy to the council.” Baker ran as part of mayor Page’s Broken Hill First Team.
