Gold FM stamps out bullying

92.5 Gold FM’s Richard, Bridge and Spida are on a mission to stamp out school bullying with the installation of a Buddy Bench at Gold and Tweed Coast schools.

This week the trio spoke to Charlie from Cairns, a nine-year-old boy who came up with the idea of the Buddy Bench.

The Buddy Bench is a permanent bench at school where children are encouraged to sit when they are feeling left out or bullied. If a classmate sees someone sitting on the bench they are urged to invite them to play, walk, or talk with them.

To help stamp out bullying across the Gold and Tweed Coast, Gold FM will be teaming up with Bunnings Warehouse to implement the Buddy Bench into as many schools as possible.

Bridget Daley, from the Gold FM breakfast show says, “It is such an amazing idea, because bullying is the one thing that is so hard for parents to deal with as they are not there to help out. Gold FM is on board with this 100%, we want to implement as many Gold FM Buddy Benches as we can across the coast to help stamp out bullying”

Richard, Bridge and Spida will start installing Gold FM Buddy Benches across the Gold and Tweed Coast this February and continue throughout the year. The first Buddy Bench will be installed at Norfolk Village State School on Friday 6th February, 2015.
