GM named for DMG Sunshine Coast station

The launch of DMG’s new Sunshine Coast station is drawing near, with the announcement of another key position this week and confirmation that the station will be on air before the end of the year.

Darryl Watherston has been named as the new General Manager of the station. He is “a well known media operator on the Coast,” having worked with WIN TV and Channel 10 prior to making the jump to Australia’s largest radio group.

DMG Regional Radio Managing Director, Rob Gamble, said: “We are very excited with Darryl’s appointment to head up our new Sunshine Coast station. He has lived on the Coast all his life and has over 10 years experience in the media industry, most recently in senior management positions. Darryl is unquestionably one of the most experienced and talented media people on the Sunshine Coast and we were fortunate to attract this calibre of person to lead our new Sunshine Coast station.”

DMG Radio is yet to confirm the name of the new radio station, but has now confirmed that it will be air before the end of this year.

Gamble added: “We are still talking to listeners up and down the Coast and researching their feedback on what they want to see in a new local radio station. There are some exciting format options that we are considering based on the audience feedback we’ve received so far.”

Over the past 2 years DMG Radio has launched new radio stations in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, as well as operating radio stations in some 30 regional markets across Australia.
