Geoff Field leaves 2Day FM

Wednesday 09 September, 2015

High profile news reader Geoff Field has left 2Day FM.

Field announced the news on social media this afternoon, telling his followers:

"I have left 2Day FM and I will be taking time out with Jason. Rest assured I'm OK, and once again thank you so much for your kindness over the years. I'm sorry I can't reply, but I know you'll understand...

"To the thousands of listeners, staff that I have respected and people that have supported me over the last 18 and a half years at 2Day FM, thank you. You have been so loyal and caring, and I will keep you posted as to my future now that I have left the station."

Reminiscing on his 19 years in radio news earlier this year Field said in an article on radioinfo:

"I had five mainly good years on the Breakfast show, but in March 2010 things had changed. It wasn’t fun anymore. I decided never to work with either host again. The management moved me to the Hamish and Andy show which I loved, and before you ask: No, I never did do pants-off-Friday with the boys!"

His immediate plans are to take a break after almost twenty years on air in FM radio news.

Emma Freedman has been announced as the new afternoon newsreader for 2Day FM.
