Funding for 38 More Regions to Fight Radio Blackspots

Another 38 communities around Australia will get access to new and improved commercial radio services, with funding of more than $1m under the Federal Government’s Commercial Radio Blackspots’ Program.

This is the third round of funding and brings to 104, the number of communities to benefit from the $5m, three year program.

In the latest round, blackspots will be addressed in South Australia, the Northern Territory, NSW, Victoria and Queensland.

Funding will help commercial broadcasters with costs for equipment, installation, site establishment and licence fees.

Additional communities are being consideration for funding over the remaining life of the program, which runs until the end of 2004-’05.
