Fraser Coast FM turns 25

Fraser Coast FM celebrates 25 years serving its local community this weekend.

The station began limited broadcasting in 1993 with regular weekend programs from 6am to midnight on Saturdays and Sundays.

These days a the station has a home at 30 Halcro Street, Point Vernon, where it has a modern broadcasting studio as well as a production studio, and state of the art outside broadcast equipment.

The stations trained presenters now deliver around 100 hours of local entertainment each week.

FCFM Secretary Desley Dixon says “ Now there are around 101 members, approximately 30 of whom are presenters, while another 18 off-air volunteers ensure the smooth running of administrative, technological and financial functions.”

There are also has 96 associate members comprising of other non-profit organisations and groups from the Harvey Bay region.

As part of the celbrations the station will hold a Radiofest in City Park, Pialba from 8am til 4pm this Saturday

Billed as a Family Fun Day, listeners get the chance to go behind the scenes at the station as well as partaking in a number of fundraising stalls and markets on the day.
