The ABC’s European correspondent Fran Kelly (pictured) will come back to Australia in 2005 to host Radio National Breakfast. She replaces Peter Thompson.

Kelly is familiar to listeners from her time as political correspondent for Radio National Breakfast based in Canberra’s federal parliamentary press gallery in 1997.

After her stint in the press gallery she joined ABC TV’s 7.30
Report in 2001 as political editor before taking her most recent post in Europe.

Radio National is hoping that Kelly’s ’s experience of Australian politics and world affairs will bring a new level of “agenda-setting” coverage to RN’s Breakfast program.
