Fowl survey on the Gold Coast

As the Gold Coast enters a Nielsen survey period, both stations are pulling out all stops to succeed. But only one station will actually know the full results, because the survey has been commissioned by Hot Tomato alone and RG Capital is not participating.

RG believes it is not the right time to be part of a full market survey, so has forced Tomato to go it alone. But that is not stopping RG Capital’s two stations from putting up a good fight during the survey period.

One RG promotion turned fowl last week when Sea FM dumped loads of chickens around town as part of a listener competition. In the Gold Coast heat, before listeners could find all the frozen chickens there were a few foul smells that drew the ire of local government health authorities.

And in other survey news Sea FM has aired a promotion that emulates listeners ticking a diary booklet:

Hello diary, time to tick them off.

Hear the SeaFM crazy call at
7.10, tick! And again at 2.40, tick that too! Tick.

Apologise to the
other half, tick! Won some movie tickets with the SeaFM goose of the
day, oh you dork, tick.

Counted the ten songs in a row in case SeaFM
blew it, they didn’t. Tick. Ready for a drink with the bench warmers
after the Fat 30. Yeah I’ll tick that now.

What a great day, might do
the same again tomorrow. 90.9 SeaFM.

There are strict conventions about drawing listener attention to surveys during official survey periods, but, since this survey is not necessarily an officially sanctioned full market survey, Sea FM may be able to get away with such a promo.
