The Backyard Cricket Challenge is in its second year, and yesterday two celebrity filled teams descended on ScoMo’s lawn at Kirribilli House, to throw the arm over on a day when there was more sledging than sixers.
Wippa, ScoMo & Karls team took home the trophy, but importantly $15K was raised for charity for Batting for Change.
This morning Fitzy & Wippa interviews Ben Fordham and Karl Stefanovic about yesterday’s result
Ben Fordham (Fitzy’s losing team)
- On the PM’s dog Buddy stealing the ball “What a fantastic day thanks to our Commander in cheat (the PM). If you have a dog that is specifically trained to collect the tennis ball and run away from the fieldsman I would regard that as cheating”. “If I had access to snipers like the PM does I’m sorry Buddy wouldn’t be around today”
- Sarah McGilvray “How come the PM got out 4 times and was still batting??”
- Wippa “Sarah are you suggesting the PM cheated again?” “It’s a brave person who suggests that”
Karl Stefanovic (Wippas winning team)
- On being on the winning team 2 years in a row “That’s what I keep telling channel 9, I’m your lucky charm!” “It was a terrific day for charity, the Stefanovic lads are always going to be there”
- On rivalry between him and his brother Pete “It’s shaped us as human beings, Pete’s on Sky news now, he’s got 3 people watching him”
- Wippa asks “Do you know anything about Richard Wilkins drinking session the night before”
- Karl “It’s typical preparation for Dickie, the big fellas still got it”
