Fitzy & Wippa want to buy Russell Crowe’s chariot

Russell Crowe and Danielle Spencer split in 2012 after nearly a decade together, but have only now decided to go through with a divorce, and have partnered with Sotheby’s to sell personal items valued at £1m in an auction called ‘The Art of Divorce.’

A total 227 of them are now for sale to the highest bidder, including Crowe’s massive guitar collection, Spencer’s jewellery and dozens of movie props.

Wippa attended a pre-auction dinner last night hosted by Russell Crowe ahead of this weekend’s auction, and now Fitzy & Wippa are desperate to get their hands on Crowe’s Gladiator chariot, and have started a Go Fund Me Page.

The Nova duo have encouraged listeners to donate – if they’re out bid then all money is going to Youth Off The Street.

If they score the chariot then the co-hosts will use it for various things in Sydney for the listeners – including Wippa using it for City2Surf (with Tommy & MDG pulling it).

The priciest item up for auction is a 1986 Grammy Award presented to Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, Sam Phillips, Rick Nelson and Chips Moman for Best Spoken Word or Non Musical Recording for Interviews from the Class of ’55 Recording Sessions, with an estimate of $200,000-$300,000.

Other eclectic items to be auctioned inclued a Mosasaur skull from the Cretaceous period (which used to belong to Leonardo DiCaprio), estimate $35,000-$40,000, Crowe’s Captain Jack Aubrey dress blues from Master and Commander, and a custom chopper decked out in the colours of Crowe’s South Sydney Rabbitohs.
