Fairfax Radio Network launches major promotion with Dubai Tourism this weekend

Fairfax Radio Network’s News Talk stations 2UE and 3AW will launch a major promotion in conjunction with Dubai Tourism from this weekend with 2UE’s Tim Webster broadcasting live from Dubai.

The promotion sees four lucky listeners from Sydney and Melbourne travel to Dubai to join the experience.

Webster will broadcast live from Dubai this weekend from 12.00pm to 6.00pm on both Saturday and Sunday. The 2UE show will feature content about Tim’s trip and some fascinating interviews.

The Dubai experience will include golf, a tour of The Lost Chambers Aquarium and Atlantis Dive Centre, the Ski Dubai and Penguin Experience, the arts district tour, the Dubai Autodrome, Cultural Centre breakfast, old Dubai walking tour, Camel polo, desert safari evening and the world’s tallest building Burj Khalifa.

The 2UE and 3AW trip winners will also be interviewed about their Dubai experience.

2UE Content Director Clinton Maynard, who is travelling with Webster, said visiting Dubai has totally changed his perception of the city.

“I thought Dubai was simply a stop over with a few very big buildings to look at and enormous shopping centres to visit. It’s far more than that and as we’ve discovered the city offers so much for tourists, and particularly families, to be amazed by.

“We’ve discovered the most extraordinary aquarium in the world, home to an Australian saltwater crocodile, which is the largest in captivity, and all inside a shopping centre and the fact you can pat a penguin while visiting an indoor ski park in a city surrounded by desert is just mind blowing.”

Julie King, Director of Dubai Tourism Australia and New Zealand office said: “We brought out Tim Webster and his team to experience some of what Dubai has to offer and develop inspiring content for radio 2UE’s listeners, both on-air and online. Prior to this weekend’s live broadcasts from Dubai, we wanted to build up interest in the destination by offering listeners the chance to win a luxury holiday to the destination and join Tim for dinner in the desert! This week Tim has experienced adventure, culture, cuisine, beach, desert and sports, creating video content for the website and over two hours’ worth of on-air content across both Saturday and Sunday’s forthcoming live broadcasts from Dubai.

“Tim has a loyal audience that is a key demographic for holidays to Dubai. We have already seen an increase in enquiries about the destination before Tim has even gone to air, and we anticipate an enthusiastic response from his listeners after this weekend’s shows.”
