Faine shaves beard for charity

Melbourne listeners paid to see ABC774’s Jon Faine shave his beard off to raise money for cancer research at the Royal Children’s Hospital.

The campaign to shave Faine started on Tuesday 13 August during an interview with young leukaemia patient, Matthew Munro, his father and workmate who talked about shaving their heads to raise money for the Royal Children’s Hospital.

Within minutes of Faine asking 774 ABC Melbourne listeners, ‘How much will people donate if I shave my beard off?’, the pledges flooded in and reached $1650 by the end of the program, with the aim of reaching $10,000. Pictures show Faine after, during and before shaving.
