Enjoy Your Break! says Steve Pead

Don’t you love this time of the year?

Family get togethers, work functions, parties, celebrations, great weather, holiday time.

So what’s on your agenda?

Will you just “veg out”, eat, drink or use some of the time to prepare yourself for 2017?
By all means have the break – we all need to recharge the batteries but consider some “me” time too.

  1.  Review 2016:
  • What did you do well?
  • How could you improve?
  • What would you do differently
  • Are their tools or resources you need?

  1. Plan for 2017
  • What are your goals?
  • How much do you need to earn?
  • Is the current role the one you want?
  • Training or coaching needs

Mental downtime

In making an argument for the necessity of mental downtime an overwhelming amount of empirical evidence backs it up. Giving our brain a break now and then is important and it’s become increasingly clear that most of us benefit from a holiday or simply time unwinding to sharpen the mind.
There’s also a considerable amount of research showing that taking a break improves your productivity.

Another suggestion

Reading during your downtime is another great way to prepare for the year ahead. To help you out here’s some of my favourites to provide ideas to take back to work. Choose a couple and load them onto your iPad.

  • “Originals” – Adam Grant
  • The Richest Man in Babylon” – George Samuel Clason
  • “How to Have a Good Day”- Caroline Webb
  • “Deep Work” – Cal Newport
  • “The Million Dollar Media Rep” – Michael Guld
  • “Ego Is the Enemy” – Ryan Holiday
  • “Little Red Book of Selling” – Jeffrey Gitomer
  • “The Greatest Salesman in the World” – Og Mandino
  • “How to Win Friends & Influence People” – Dale Carnegie

That’s it for me I’m taking off for a break too.

Have a great holiday season and let’s get together in mid-January to talk about more great sales and selling ideas.

Until then good selling!
