End of an era in WA

Popular 720 ABC Perth presenter Eoin Cameron has bowed out of life behind the microphone after 47 years.

For the last 14 years, Cameron has been getting out of bed at 2:30am to present the breakfast program, but says severe back pain after breaking three vertebrae in a car accident in 2013 has forced him to call it quits.

“I had planned to go on much longer, at least until 70,” the 65-year-old told the ABC’s website.

“In my head I feel about 28. But your body lets you down and unfortunately mine got injured.”

720’s Facebook page has received many messages paying tribute to Eoin’s career.

James Lush, who previously presented 720 ABC Perth’s Saturday breakfast program, will temporarily take over as presenter from Monday.
