Delay expected for DMG’s Central Coast station

After the collapse of an earlier deal with RG Capital, DMG is expected to seek an extension of time to get its NSW Central Coast station up and running because of technical and operational delays.

The station was scheduled to go on air in June, but the new launch date could now be some time in September. The station’s new studios are being built in Erina.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph’s Central Coast ‘Extra’ supplement DMG regional managing director Rob Gamble said:

“We probably will [apply for an extension]. There are some technical issues
up on the Coast that we have been speaking with the ABA about, and we will do
that again in the next few weeks unless we can find a quick way around them…

“In terms of the operational side of things, we have the building in place,
the construction of the studio is under way and we are starting to put our
senior team together in terms of personnel…

“We’ve pretty well decided where we see it fitting and what it’s going to be
called, but we are not ready to release that. You will have to wait and see…

“You have a large and growing population within the Coast as well as an
overlap of people who come in which makes it very complex in a media sense. We reckon we have found a format that will attract them and we are excited
about that.”
