Crocmedia announces 2018 AFL Nation call team

An ensemble cast is spearheading Crocmedia’s AFL Nation coverage in 2018, featuring Premiership players and coaches, Brownlow Medalists, All Australian players, Hall of Fame inductees, and the introduction of Chief Sports Caller, Gerard Whateley.

AFL Nation’s Friday Night Football call team includes Whateley alongside Anthony Hudson for play-by-play commentary, while former Melbourne and St Kilda players Garry Lyon and Danny Frawley, and AFLW star Abbey Holmes complete the line-up as expert analysts.

Peter Donegan, Sandy Roberts, Kevin Bartlett and Stephen Quartermain return to the commentary box in 2018 and will join new talent Jack Heverin, Tristan Foenander, Tom Rehn and Ben Cameron.

Brett Phillips and Russell Barwick will also be joining as play-by-play commentators.

Five-time premiership player Dermott Brereton, four-time best and fairest winner Kane Cornes and dual premiership-winning coach Malcolm Blight will provide special and expert comments throughout the season.

Other contributors include Robert Walls, Nick Dal Santo, Adam Cooney, Paul Hasleby, Liam Pickering and Brent Staker, while AFLW player Daisy Pearce, and Terry Wallace, the winner of the 2017 AFMA Most Outstanding Special Commentator – Radio, will add key insights.

Crocmedia this year will also team with 1116 SEN’s award-winning pre-game show ‘Crunch Time’ on Saturdays with Gerard Whateley, Anthony Hudson, Dermott Brereton, Robert Murphy and David King to regional audiences.

Executive Producer, AFL Nation, Julian Bayard said: “It’s a great privilege to have such respected broadcasters and esteemed ex-players bring all the action to life to football fans around the country each weekend.

“AFL Nation has established a wonderful reputation in a very short period, especially with rusted-on lovers of the game in rural and regional Australia who can’t attend as often and we are committed to building on that reputation in 2018 and beyond.”

AFL Nation is streamed live at AFL.com.au and simulcast on AFLnation.com.au.
