Craig Hutchison hires dumped AFL executive at Crocmedia

Dumped AFL executive Richard Simkiss has today commenced in his new role with Craig Hutchison’s expanding media company, Crocmedia, according to News Corp reports.

Simkiss was forced to resign as AFL general manager of commercial operation in July, along with football operations manger Simon Lethlean, over inappropriate relationships with female staff members.

“Richard is one of the best commercial minds in the country who is widely respected by brands, codes and sporting bodies across the country,” Hutchison said.

“He will play an integral role in our varied business units and we’re really fortunate that he’s chosen us as the next phase of his professional career journey.”

Simkiss will be the group business director of Crocmedia and also the chief operating officer of BallPark Entertainment which is the company’s event ‘experience’ division.

After much speculation that Pacific Star Network was to be sold, radioinfo reported on the merger between SEN and Crocmedia last month.

Crocmedia holds AFL radio rights and distributes content to stations across Australia, including SEN and 3AW in Melbourne.
