Community stations combine to cover Australia with contemporary classical music

National Contemporary Landscapes is a nation-wide collaborative community radio series exploring Australian Contemporary Classical Music.

3MBS Fine Music Melbourne has teamed up with community radio stations from every corner of Australia to create an exciting 10 part radio series with episodes focusing on the diverse contemporary classical music scenes across the country

Episodes feature exclusive recordings created for the series, interviews with musicians and composers, and valuable local insights. Importantly, the series features one episode dedicated to Indigenous musicians working in this genre, produced by 3 Kool N Deadly Melbourne.

Participating stations: 3MBS Fine Music Melbourne, 3KND Indigenous Radio Melbourne, 4MBS Brisbane, Edge Radio Hobart, 5MBS Adelaide, RTRFM Perth, Fine Music Digital Sydney, 8CCC Alice Springs & Tenant Creek and Artsound Canberra.

The series features some of Australia’s best known new music practitioners and some of our rising stars, including Elena Kats-Chernin, Deborah Cheetham AO, William Barton, Kupka’s Piano and Elision Ensemble to name a few.

The one hour episodes air from 1 September 2014, and can be heard on participating stations, online at www.nationalcontemporarylandscapes.com and on the Community Radio Network.
