Community radio to celebrate International Women’s Day

CBAA partners with PBS for a national live broadcast.

PBS has put together a live line up for tomorrow, 8 March, to celebrate International Women’s Day.

In collaboration with the CBAA, Fang It! Live for International Women’s Day will share killer sets from Camp Cope, Adalita, Lazertits and Hospital Pass with community radio stations nationally.

Broadcasting via the CBAA’s Community Radio Network (CRN) and being picked up on digital radio by Brisbane’s 4ZZZ, Perth’s RTRFM and Radio Adelaide, listeners can tune in from 5 – 7pm AEDT.

As well as the live music broadcast, CRN listeners will hear a selection of features and documentaries marking the day and covering diverse topics from women in Australian journalism to mental health support for women of non-English-speaking backgrounds. Many stations will also feature special local programming.

International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity and the theme for this year is #PressforProgress.

Community broadcasting is Australia’s largest independent media sector, and recognised internationally as one of the most successful examples of grassroots media.

Over 5 million people tune in to 450+ not-for-profit, community-owned and operated radio services operating across the country each week.
