Commercial radio networks reject VW class action campaign ads

Ironically, ABC’s Media Watch provides a free plug

Giant car maker Volkswagen which also owns iconic brands Audi and Skoda is literally in a “world” of hurt since it was revealed that they had rigged vehicle computer systems to fool official tests for mandated vehicle emissions. The dodgy devices, fitted mainly to diesel vehicles, has affected around 100,000 owners in Australia who feel they have been cheated by the manufacturer and that resale values have plummeted.

Law firm, Bannister Law has commenced a class action on their behalf against the Volkswagen Group in Australia which could yield as much as $5 Billion.

In an effort to recruit affected owners to their cause, Bannister had planned an intensive two week radio campaign.

But as revealed on the ABC’s Media Watch last night, which ironically gave Bannister a giant free plug, all the major networks have refused to run the campaign for fear of upsetting VW which spends millions of dollars a year on commercial radio.
