Christian O’Connell pays tribute to UK broadcaster, John Myers

Gold 104.3’s Christian O’Connell has paid tribute to UK broadcaster, John Myers who has died at the age of 60.
 
The former BBC Radio Cumbria presenter’s death was announced by his son on social media and followed a bout of cancer in 2018.
 
Christian tweeted today that he was Stunned at John Myers passing. Incredible spirit. Real radio guy. Loved him.”
 
Christian went on to write “(John was) such a great man and friend to me. One of my references to get my VISA to come to Australia.”
 
John Myers launched commercial radio station CFM in Carlisle and then Century Radio in North-East England before being enlisted by the government to produce a review of the UK’s local radio industry, and then later a review of the BBC’s music and local radio operations.
