Changes for Mackay and Emerald radio services

The ABA plans to make FM channel capacity available for the Mackay commercial radio services, 4MKY in Glenden and 4MMK in Nebo and Clairview/St Lawrence.

This follows a request from DMG Regional Radio to overcome reception deficiencies in the region.

In addition, the ABA is proposing to make FM channel capacity available to ABC radio in Mackay for a future national radio service.

People wishing to comment on the additional proposals can do so by 23 April.

There are also proposals to make FM channel capacity available for the 4HIT Emerald commercial radio service in Blackwater and Middlemount, again to resolve local reception problems.

And, the ABA is looking at granting FM channel capacity available to ABC radio in Emerald for two future national radio services.

The ABA is also proposing to change the operating conditions of the Moranbah and Woorabinda community radio services to extend their licence areas.

Those wanting to comment on the additional proposals should do so by 23 April.
