The CBAA launches campaign to Keep Community Radio on digital

Friday 06 May, 2016
Following on from our story earlier this week on the cuts to community digital radio funding in the Federal Government's budget, the CBAA has begun their campaign Keep the Community in Radio to restore digital radio transmission funding to ensure that community radio is not trapped in a analog ghetto while other broadcasters go digital.

CBAA CEO Jon Bissett spoke to 2ser's Daily Program this morning about the funding issue.

Jon explains "It's a complex technology being shared with commerical broadcasters and as such it's critical money...and without that money we face losing 47 digital radio services across those 5 capital cities."

The CBAA launched a campaign yesterday with a petition to ask the Government to continue to fund community on the digital spectrum. Listen to the interview below and look at the campaign and petition here.

A range of high profile media people have taken to facebook and twitter to support the CBAA's campaign, which has had thousands of likes since launching yesterday and has been trending on Twitter today in Australia.
