CBAA Conference 2017 lineup

The Conference runs 9-12 November 2017.

Following the evening welcome event next Thursday, the CBAA Conference features a two-day program across Friday and Saturday packed with sessions including a keynote, debate, informative workshops, and hands-on sessions in the Media Lab. 

This year, a Conference app has been launched, a one-stop feature for program information, live updates, content from CBAA Community Radio Award finalists and extra networking opportunities. Download the app here

Some speaker and session highlights for this year include: 

ABC's Brad Marsellos will present 'Media Lab: Skill for All - Smart Phone Journalism, offering practical skills and tips on the best apps and techniques to get the most out of smart phones as a multi-media reporting tool. 

Women's Forum will provide an opportunity for discussion about the issues facing women in community broadcasting at a station and sector-wide level, and ideas to overcome them. 

CBF's Jo Curtin will discuss 'CBF Grants: Outcomes, Ideas and Tips', and showcase successful grant outcomes to inspire funding applications and present what the Grants Advisory Committees are looking for.

Steve Ahern (radioinfo and AMT) presents 'The Importance of Radio in Media-Dark Areas', and will discuss examples of what happens when news media is under threat, when fake news is used to destabilise countries, and the important role of radio in challenging media environments. 

As part of the Skills Boost sessions, Nick Dunkerley (Hindenburg Systems) covers the skills required to get meaningful field interviews that sound great. Participants are encouraged to bring their own field recorder or smart phone
