A car a day for 2UE competition

2UE has begun 2003 with one of its most extravagant giveaways ever. Beginning next week, for the next 20 consecutive weekdays, one breakfast show listener each day will win a Toyota V6 Avalon Conquest worth nearly $37,000.

The station believes it will set the benchmark for this year’s station promotions in Sydney.

Breakfast presenter Steve Price says: “This is the big one! 20 Avalon Conquests will be won – not the usual small 4 cylinder car offered in most other competitions… One every day in my program for 4 weeks, guaranteed.”

Price and John Laws will draw a winner between 7- 8am each day. The promotion is the first of many such promos planned under the new leadership of GM Ian Sheppard.

Sheppard, who intends to take an “aggressive approach” to the Sydney radio market in 2003, has made several new appointments to the 2UE management team to help him carry out his aims.

He told radioinfo: “Most recently I have made significant appointments to my team with Sandy Aloisi taking on the role of Program Director from her previous position as News Director, with Ken Sparkes appointed as Senior Program Consultant… Greg Byrnes takes over the News Director role and Di Murphy has joined 2UE in the key position of Promotions and Marketing Director.”

Other recent appointments include Meg Garrido as Financial Controller and Fiona Buckley as Sales Manager.
