Former 2CH breakfast announcer and tv game show host, John Burgess, has rejected reports of an imminent return to Perth to replace Howard Sattler on 6PR mornings.

Burgess, whose contract was not renewed recently by Macquarie, has told Rachel Brown in The Sun Herald:

“You know how I love to keep rumours going to keep my name in the papers, but I know nothing about this one.

“I can honestly say it’s not true.”

Nevertheless, Burgess has gone to Perth to do some work for Channel 9’s ‘Australia’s Funniest Home Videos’.

He says he was disappointed with the 2CH decision and will miss the opportunity to talk with his loyal listeners.

The station says budgetary constraints prevented the renewal of Burgess’ contract.

John Poole, a long time member of the 2CH on air team and previous breakfast announcer, has taken over the shift from Burgo.
